Found this on one of the blogs I check out. One more display of Georgie porgie's brilliance.

Today, at a presser,
this exchange happened with Peter Wallsten of the Los Angeles Times:

Block quote start

Bush: You gonna ask your question with shades on?

Wallsten: Yes...

Bush: But there's no sun out here.

Wallsten: It depends on your perspective.

Bush: Touché.

Block quote end

Wallsten is blind.

Okay, this is better, but he's still a jerk.

WASHINGTON (June 15) - President Bush, who often teases members of the White House press corps, apologized Wednesday after he poked fun at a reporter for
wearing sunglasses without realizing they were needed for vision loss.

Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten, left, asks President Bush a question during a news conference Wednesday in the White House Rose Garden. Bush
teased the reported about his sunglasses.

The exchange occurred at a news conference in the Rose Garden.

Bush called on Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten and asked if he was going to ask his question with his "shades" on.

"For the viewers, there's no sun," Bush said to the television cameras.

But even though the sun was behind the clouds, Wallsten still needs the sunglasses because he has Stargardt's disease, a form of macular degeneration that
causes progressive vision loss. The condition causes Wallsten to be sensitive to glare and even on a cloudy day, can cause pain and increase the loss of
sight.

Wallsten said Bush called his cell phone later in the day to apologize and tell him that he didn't know he had the disease. Wallsten said he interrupted
and told the president that no apology was necessary and that he didn't feel offended since he hadn't told anyone at the White House about his condition.

..and how does that make Bush a jerk exactly. He has done a lot of things that deserve the jerk label but this is clearly not one of them. If he didn't know how can that be considered bad and even if he did, how can that be considered so offensive, I would actually rather respect him for that since it shows he'd be comfortable enough with a visually impaired person to make a bit of fun, which is very usual, it's being treated like a super sensitive and less than intelligent person that gets me down, so from this I really can't agree with him acting like a jerk in this particular instance.

Okay, first off, I'm prejudiced and in my book he's always going to be a jerk.

But, in this case, he didn't know the guy was blind and was making fun of his glasses before he knew the situation--assuming that this weirdo was wearing glasses out of the sun light to be cool or something.

I should think someone in his position would just keep his opinions to himself.

Anyway, Bush is still a jerk.

I can't stand Bush, he can go to Hell and burn to ashes for all I care. He's the reason why the U.S. is in such a tight spot right now.

Spoken like a true Dragon.

Hmmm, i would think that if the blind reporter didn't tell anyone at the white house about his condition then it's really not a big drama.
however, it doesn't make up for all the other bush stupidities.

The intelligent thing would have been for the fella to inform the WH about the condition, therefore preventing this eejit opening his mouth to advertise his profound ignorance.

Based on previous examples, I don't think that would have stopped him from showing his ignorance in some other way, Goblin.
